We are William Shanor and Julie Bonney, shoemakers, dedicated to our motto: “Refinement…a way of life.”
I am William Shanor and have been measuring and fitting shoes since I was twelve…. that’s nearly 6 decades!
I have been actively making stylish boots, shoes, moccasins; you name it, since 1972. Our shoe creations have appeared in National Geographic Traveler, American Craft Magazine, Cowboys and Indians (the Cosmopolitan of the western style world) AP, local newspapers and TV. We have numerous “best in show” awards, and have been jury selected into numerous craft, art, and music festivals, including Trappings of the American West, and the Western Design Conference.
When I assisted Julie in making an elegant kangaroo wallet for her father several years ago, I was amazed, as was her father, at her skill and determination.
Julie is precise with a sewing machine, innately artistic, and a gifted creative designer. She is the partner and wife a craftsman finds only once in a lifetime. Her growing passion for photography is a joy to watch. She is the inspiration and logistical support behind our success. Her approach, as well as mine, is to show up, focus, practice, work from the heart, and make every shoe better than the last.
We match each student’s creative ideas with the appropriate tools and techniques and then marvel at what students can do. Our students never fail to amaze us.
